Privacy Policy
Effective 25 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored and shared when you visit wilsonronnie.org, create an account or purchase the digital book Zero Harm at Workplace. The website and book are operated by or on behalf of author Wilson Ronnie Odoom. Privacy enquiries can be sent to support@wilsonronnie.org.
1. Information we collect
Account details: Your full name, email address, internally assigned username, secure password hash and account preferences.
Purchase and entitlement details: The edition selected, order reference, payment status, transaction currency and amount, dates of purchase, access permissions and related support correspondence.
Technical information: Browser and device information, IP address, security logs, session data and cookies necessary to operate the website and prevent misuse, to the extent these are recorded by WordPress, our hosting service or security tools.
Messages: Information you include when contacting support or requesting account assistance.
We do not ask you to provide your full card number or card security code to the Bookshop website. Payment-card information is handled by the payment processor.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to create and secure accounts; process and verify payments; provide purchased downloads and reading access; send receipts, purchase confirmations, access links and password resets; answer support requests; investigate fraud and technical faults; maintain the website; and comply with legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell customer personal information. We do not use purchase-confirmation emails as consent to unrelated promotional mailing. Where separate marketing is offered, it will follow the applicable opt-in and unsubscribe requirements.
3. Legal grounds for processing
Where privacy legislation requires a legal basis, we process account, order and access information to perform our contract with you; payment and recordkeeping data to meet legal obligations; security and technical information for legitimate interests in protecting the service, subject to your rights; and information requiring consent only when you have provided valid consent. Applicable legal grounds vary by jurisdiction.
4. Payments and service providers
We use Paystack and its payment partners to process transactions. We also rely on website hosting, email/SMTP and technical service providers to deliver the Bookshop. These providers may process limited information for their assigned services under their own legal and privacy responsibilities. We may disclose information where lawfully required or to protect against fraud and security threats.
5. Cookies and browser storage
Essential WordPress cookies and related browser storage maintain secure login sessions, account preferences and basic site functions. Payment providers may set their own security or checkout cookies. Non-essential analytics or advertising cookies, if introduced, will be subject to any consent or notice required by law. You can manage cookies using your browser settings, although blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or purchases.
6. Data retention
We retain account information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to fulfil purchases and provide reading access. Transaction records and correspondence may be retained for applicable accounting, tax, fraud-prevention and legal limitation periods. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably necessary, subject to legal obligations and legitimate dispute resolution needs. There is no single retention period that applies to all records.
7. Account verification and data accuracy
To protect customers, we may request reasonable evidence of account ownership before providing purchase records, changing account access or answering privacy requests. Customers should keep their contact details accurate so that payment confirmations and access notices reach the correct address. We do not request passwords or payment-card security codes by email.
8. Security
We use password hashing, account access controls, secure payment verification and other reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No online system can guarantee complete security. You should use a strong, unique password and report suspected unauthorised account access promptly.
9. International processing
Our hosting, payment or email service providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we will use lawful transfer arrangements and appropriate protections.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on the law applicable to you, you may request access to personal information, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to certain processing, portability of eligible data, or withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis of processing. These rights may be subject to identification checks and exceptions for necessary purchase records, legal duties and fraud prevention. To submit a request, email support@wilsonronnie.org. You may also have the right to complain to an appropriate data-protection authority.
11. Children
The website is intended for purchasers legally able to enter into digital-purchase agreements. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children who cannot validly use the service under applicable law. Contact us if you believe a child's information was submitted improperly.
12. External websites
The Bookshop may link to Paystack or other third-party websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices. We are not responsible for the content or practices of independently operated sites.
13. Policy changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The current version will be published on this page with its effective date. Where required, we will give additional notice of material changes.
